Cole Stewart and Morgan Reese Headline First Day of Doc Anderson Invitational

TROY, Ala. – The Troy track and field program wrapped up its first day of the Doc Anderson Invitational on Friday at the Jesse H. Colley Track.
The men's side is first with 75 points, and the women's side is second with 40 points. Troy recorded four first-place finishes.
Morgan Reese started the meet with a victory in the men's hammer throw with a PR of 60.40m. Cole Stewart shattered his previous PR in the javelin with a mark of 70.08m to win the event. It's just the second javelin throw in program history to exceed 70 meters and the first since 2012.
Haruki Sakai dominated the men's long jump with a distance of 7.42m, good for first. Tydreke Thomas finished first in the men's 200m.
Three Trojans are competing in the women's heptathlon. Through the first day of events, Alejandra Gutierrez Fuente sits in second (2898), Kady Schwietz is in sixth (2766) and Sydney Lockner is in 15th (1824). Gutierrez Fuente recorded the top time in the heptathlon 200m.
