Women’s Golf Readies for GSU Invitational

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's golf team takes to the links for the fourth time this spring at the GSU Invitational hosted by Georgia State on Monday and Tuesday at Rivermont Golf Club in Johns Creek, Ga.
Troy is coming off a 10th place finish in a strong field at the Spring Break Shootout last week, following back-to-back second place finishes to open the spring. Alyssa Mercado paced Troy last week, shooting 3-over on the par-71 course; her 75.25 spring average is second to Laura Fangmeyer's 74.63 spring average.
Fangmeyer has paced the Trojans in two of the three spring events, finishing third at the ASU Spring Class and tied for seventh at the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate. Fangmeyer and Mercardo have played four of their six rounds within three strokes of par.
Katelynn Altese is coming off a tie for 38th at the Spring Break Shootout with two rounds within three shots of par, while Bruna Roqueta turned in an even-par round last week, and Manya Saini shot 5-over par in her final round rounds last week.
Troy will play Monday's 36 holes along with Bradley and Eastern Kentucky, beginning on holes six thru 10 for the shotgun start.
