Women's Golf Wraps Play at Spring Break Shootout

SAN ANTONIO, Fla. – Alyssa Mercado fired a 2-over 73 to lead the Troy women's golf team in Tuesday's final round of the Spring Break Shootout at the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club. The Trojans maintained their standing on the leaderboard and finished 10^th in the 15-team field.

Mercado carded four birdies in her round, including three on the back nine after reaching 5-over with a bogey on the par-3 first; she opened her round on No. 10. Mercado tied for 13^th place overall at 3-over for the week for her second top 10 and sixth top 25 finish of the season. She has now played four of her last six rounds within two shots of par.

Troy shot 15-over on the day with a combined 13 birdies across the five Trojan golfers. Troy finished in the top half of the field with 37 birdies as a unit, led by 12 from Mercado (fifth most) and eight from Manya Saini. Mercado finished the week even on the par 4s, fourth best in the field, while Laura Fangmeyer finished even on the par 5s.

Fangmeyer finished in a tie for 32^nd place at 8-over par after carding a pair of birdies en route to a 77 on Tuesday, while Katelynn Altese finished tied for 38^th in the field at 9-over after carding a 5-over 76 in the final round.

Saini climbed 13 spots up the individual leaderboard following her best round of the week, a 2-over 73 that featured four birdies, three coming on the front nine. Bruna Roqueta added a pair of birdies in her round of 81 as she finished 59^th.

Troy returns to action March 25-26 at the GSU Invitational hosted by Georgia State.
