Men’s Basketball Travels to Texas State for Regular Season Finale

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's basketball team wraps up the regular season in the Lonestar State as it battles Texas State in San Marcos on Friday night. Tip-off is slated for 7:15 p.m.
Troy is coming off its second consecutive road win after defeating Louisiana 87-73 on Wednesday night in the CAJUNDOME. The victory marked Troy's 20th win of the season, and for the first time in D-I program history, have three straight 20-win seasons. They are also the only team in the Sun Belt to win 20 or more games in each of the last three seasons.
The win also guaranteed that Troy will be no lower than the No. 3 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, set to start in Pensacola next week.
Texas State is coming off a big 73-55 win over ULM at home on Tuesday night. If the season ended today, the Bobcats would occupy the No. 11 seed in Pensacola.
The Bobcats lead the all-time series 9-8, but the Trojans have won three straight matchups and look to cap off the season sweep after defeating Texas State 78-65 at Trojan Arena in January.

The Trojans dominated Louisiana on Wednesday night to pick up its first sweep of the Ragin' Cajuns since the 2004-05 season – the first year the teams met. Troy didn't shoot the ball particularly well from the field (38.5 percent) but had one of the best performances from the free-throw line in program history.
The Trojans converted on 38 of 42 free throw attempts for its second-most free throw makes in its D-I history and third-most ever. Troy's program record is 41, set against DeVry in the 258-point game. The Trojans also made 40-50 against Louisiana in 2017.
Tayton Conerway went 13-14 from the line to lead the way and seven of ten players who appeared in the game made at least two free throws.
Troy's defense made it tough for Louisiana to get much going and forced the Ragin' Cajuns into 20 turnovers. The Trojans also had 16 steals and were led by Conerway's team-high six. He's up to 61 steals on the season, which is first in the SBC and 21st in the nation. Myles Rigsby also added five steals while recording a career-high six assists.
Christyon Eugene led the Trojans offensively with 18 points and eight rebounds. Eugene has scored in double-digits in 25 of 30 games this season. He is averaging a team-high 15.4 points, good for sixth in the conference.
Also scoring in double figures for the Trojans were Conerway with 15, Victor Valdes with 13 and Aamer Muhammad with 12.
