Sweep the Week
Troy welcomed Texas State and ULM into Trojan Arena, handing both a loss to sweep them in the regular season, 85-69 and 81-77, respectively. Ja'Mia Hollings led Troy with 21.5 points on 58.1 percent shooting, 11 rebounds and four steals to be named Sun Belt Player of the Week.
Despite finding themselves down through the opening 10 minutes, the Trojans battled back to sit within two points at the half, 37-35. Then, Hollings opened the floodgates in the third quarter, leading Troy as it outscored Texas State 30-12 on 62.5 percent from the floor. No. 11 ended two points shy of tying a career-high (26) while shooting 64.7 percent to lead Troy to an 85-69 victory.
Saturday's senior day went as planned when three of the four seniors notched double-doubles against ULM. Nia Daniel and Hollings ended with 17 points and 12 rebounds as Tai'Sheka Porchia led with 20 and 14. Troy managed to push the lead to double-digits on a triple by senior Makayia Hallmon. The Warhawks almost came back, but a pair of makes at the charity stripe with 0:02 left by Hollings sealed the 81-77 win.
The last these teams competed was Jan. 27, when Arkansas State forced overtime off a last-second bucket by Lauryn Pendleton. That didn't bother Hallmon as she ramped up her scoring to 11 points in five minutes to finish with 23 and seven rebounds. Porchia also scored a career-high of 35 in the win.
