TROY, Ala. - D1Baseball.com unveiled its top 50 junior college transfer impact hitters ahead of the 2025 season, and Troy infielder Sean Darnell was recognized as one of the top juco transfers in college baseball.Â
Darnell, a junior from just down the road at Wallace-Dothan Community College, came in at No. 34 in D1Baseball's rankings. Darnell did nothing but produce during his junior college career, hitting .374 as a freshman and .364 as a sophomore while earning ACCC All-South Division honors in 2023.Â
Darnell's plate discipline stands out the most, as he drew 47 walks while striking out just 34 times across two seasons. Darnell also tallied 22 doubles, two triples, one home run and 70 RBIs during his junior college career.Â
The Wetumpka, Ala., native starred at Elmore County High School, where he dominated with an impressive .545 batting average as a junior and .470 average as a senior. Â
Darnell is one of 26 newcomers on Troy's roster this season, as the Trojans reloaded after reaching a No. 21 national ranking in 2024. Troy opens its 2025 campaign on Friday, February 14 against Saint Louis.Â
