Tayton Conerway Named to Lou Henson Early Season Watch List

TROY, Ala. – Tayton Conerway was one of 50 players nationally to be named to the 2024-25 Lou Henson Award Early Season Watch List. The award is presented annually to the top player in mid-major college basketball.
Named after the legendary Illinois and New Mexico State head coach who won 775 games in 41 seasons, the Lou Henson Award will be awarded in San Antonio, Texas, the site of the men's Division I Basketball Championship. The recipient of the award is determined by a 10-memeber voting committee, which consists of current and former head coaches, as well as two senior staff members of collegeinsider.com.
Conerway, a senior guard from Burleson, Texas, was named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Second Team before the season started. In 2023-24 he was second on the team in scoring with 11.8 points and was named the Sun Belt Sixth Man of the Year after leading Troy's bench, which finished 14th in the country in points per game. He is off to another strong start in 2024-25, especially distributing the basketball.
Through five games he is averaging 8.0 points, 5.4 assists and 4.0 rebounds. His 27 total assists and 5.4 assists per game are second in the conference this season.
Conerway and the Trojans return to the hardwood on Monday night to open the Trojan Turkey Tipoff against UTSA. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Troy Sports Media Network. Live stats will be available on Troystats.com.
