TROY, Ala. – For the first time since 2013, the Troy cross country program secured Sun Belt Conference Runners of the Week awards, sweeping the men's and women's via Keith Warner and Alexiana Hinote for their performance at the FSU XC Invitational.
"I'm very happy for Lexi and Keith," head coach Brian Cunningham said. "Both did an excellent job of being aggressive early in the races at FSU, then fought hard to the finish. They led two excellent team performances. We are excited to see what these two and their teammates achieve as we move on to the championship season."
Last Friday, Warner returned to the course at the Apalachee Regional Park for the first time since Sept. 13 and dominated the men's side in 24th. The sophomore extended his streak of eight straight meets atop the leaderboard for Troy (8-for-8). Warner crossed the stripe with Troy's second-best time of 2024 at 25:40.80 – he holds the top time at 25:33.88 in the Southern Showcase. In 2024, the Spain Park High School graduate has three top-100, two top-25 and one top-10 finish.
Hinote couldn't ask for a better start to her Troy career as she finishes as the No. 1 Trojan for the fourth straight meet, accumulating three top-30s and one top-10. Most recently, Hinote hit a personal best in the 5k for a 28th place finish, timing at 18:17.60. From Spanish Fort, Ala., Hinote holds the top times on the women's side for the 5k and 6k, including three of the top four times in the 5k.
Troy and its award winners sit until Friday, Nov. 1, for the postseason at the Sun Belt Championship in Foley, Ala.
