MOBILE, Ala. – Through 18 holes on Saturday afternoon at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, the Troy women's golf program sits tied for sixth at 8-over 288 at the USA Intercollegiate Tournament.
Laura Fangmeyer led the charge for the Trojans, ending as the only individual at par (72). The sophomore ranks 12th, five shots from Daniela Campillo atop the leaderboard. Through the first nine holes, the Austria native sat 2-over before redeeming herself on holes 10 and 13 with birdies.
Roles reversed for Katelynn Altese as she excelled on the front nine, tallying three birdies on holes two, three and seven. The remainder of the Trojans ended day one in 33rd (Samantha Straight), 39th (Manya Saini) and 48th (Alyssa Mercado). Straight carded four birdies and finished 3-over, while the sole newcomer Manya Saini wrapped up at 4-over.
Day two resumes tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. when Fangmeyer tees off with group 11.
