Men’s Golf Adds Pair of Transfers

TROY, Ala. – Coming off a return to the postseason for the first time in six years, the Troy men's golf program announced Friday the addition of a pair of transfers into the program with the addition of Nick Fowlkes and Gage Carnes.

An All-Big West selection in 2022 at Cal State Northridge, Fowlkes posted a 72.97 stroke average over 35 rounds this past season. A native of Stevenson Ranch, Calif., Fowlkes comes to Troy with two years of eligibility after posting a pair of top 10s last year, including a victory at the UC Santa Barbara Collegiate during the spring. As a freshman, he posted a 73.33 stroke average with a pair of top 10 finishes en route to his all-conference nod.

Carnes, a native of Winter Haven, Fla., joins the Troy program following a successful career at Limestone University, where he's coming off a season with a 73.57 stroke average, including a pair of top five finishes. An All-Southern Athletic Conference selection following the 2021 season, Carnes posted a 73.05 average and earned all-tournament team honors thanks to a top five finish in the conference tournament that year.

Troy advanced to postseason play this past season for the first time since 2017 as sophomore Brantley Scott earned an individual berth into the NCAA Auburn Regional, and the Trojans played in the inaugural National Golf Invitational after narrowly missing out on an at-large berth into the NCAA Championship.

The Trojans posted their most head-to-head wins during the 2022-23 season since the 1994-95 season and combined for an 187-98-6 head-to-head the past two seasons after combining for 150 victories in the previous four seasons.
