Troy Concludes Season at NCAA East Preliminary
5/26/2023 4:17:00 PM | Track & Field
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Javon Osbourne and Jaggerd Moore completed Troy's 2023 season on day three of the NCAA East Preliminary Friday afternoon at Jax Track in Hodges Stadium.
"I am very proud of the season these four had this year," director of track and field / cross country Marc Davis said. "It's been a great year for them, and to be among the nations best is the way we want our athletes to end the season. It may not be where we wanted to finish, but in the end, they should not hang their heads."
Noon saw Osbourne in flight three for the men's discus event as the 13th seed, needing a top-12 spot to advance. On his first throw, Osbourne faulted, but his second throw went the distance of 52.59m to position himself in 26th. His third throw was the best for the 6-4 sophomore as he hit the 53.44m mark to wrap up his nine podium season in 27th.
The Trojans had one competitor left in Moore to advance to Austin, Texas. Moore was a member of flight two as the 29th-ranked jumper in the east. The freshman quickly worked through the 1.99m and 2.04m, leaping them on his first attempt to put him tied for sixth. Unfortunately, The 2.09m mark is where Moore's season saw its limit as he failed on all three attempts to fall outside the top-12 to 16th and end Troy's season.
