Day One Wraps Up at NCAA East Preliminary

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Day one of the NCAA East Preliminary at Jax Track in Hodges Stadium saw Cole Stewart and Javon Osbourne unable to advance to the NCAA Championships on Wednesday.
Stewart started Troy off in the javelin throw as the 30th-ranked thrower for the event. A member of flight two, Stewart tossed a 57.96m throw for his seventh-best throw of the season. The 15th-place finish in the heat had him finish 45th in the event.
With two events on his plate for the week, Osbourne was seeded 25th for the shot put event. With four flights on tap, Osbourne was positioned in the second. Before today, Osbourne had only one career throw above the 18.00m mark at the Sun Belt Outdoor Championship. The sophomore claimed his second with an 18.08m throw for fourth in the flight and 24th overall.
Biniosa Ezukuse is the sole competitor for Troy tomorrow at 6 p.m. in the women's shot put.
