Taylor McKinney Named to NFCA All-Region First Team

TROY, Ala. – Troy sophomore second baseman Taylor McKinney has been named to the NFCA All-South Region First Team, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Thursday. McKinney is the only player not from an SEC program on the South Region First Team.

McKinney, a Montgomery native, led Troy with a .349 batting average, 51 RBIs, a .691 slugging percentage and a 1.145 OPS. She tied for the team lead with 12 home runs and finished second on the team with 10 stolen bases. Additionally, McKinney ranks 40^th nationally, averaging 0.96 RBIs per game.

Outside of McKinney, the first team in the South Region features Montana Fouts from Alabama, three players from Arkansas, five from LSU and one from Texas A&M.

She finished the season with 15 multi-hit games and 13 multi-RBI games, both of which led the Trojans, and was a versatile option for head coach Eric Newell as she started 38 games at second base and 10 games in left field.

McKinney was particularly strong against top competition as she belted six of her home runs against Sun Belt foes and slugged .662 with a Sun Belt-best 29 RBIs; the Sun Belt finished the year as the No. 6 conference in the country.
