Troy Makes Midweek Trip to Tuscaloosa

TROY, Ala. – The Trojans will trek north to Tuscaloosa for an instate midweek matchup with Alabama on Tuesday, April 4, with the first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. and broadcasted on SEC Network+.
This will be the first of two meetings this year as the Trojans (20-9) will be looking to end a three-game losing streak to the Crimson Tide, as their last win came in 2019. The series between these two programs dates back to 1975. Alabama leads the overall series 25-12, with the Trojans winning just eight times away from Riddle-Pace Field.

Troy is 5-3 this season in midweek games. However, they will look to get back in the win column after dropping two of three over the weekend to Southern Miss.
Senior Caleb Bartolero moved in a tie for 10th place all-time in doubles in Troy program history over the weekend. With 43 in his career, Bartolero tied Tom Gregorio and Wade Miller in the category. Bartolero leads the team with 10 this season and has 64 career extra-base hits, including two triples and 19 home runs.
Troy as a team has hit 54 home runs this season, which already matches the total amount from each of the last two seasons. Leading the way are Shane Lewis and William Sullivan; Lewis leads the team with 14, and Sullivan has a career-best 13 on the year. Both rank top two in the Sun Belt Conference. In addition, Troy is one of two teams in the country with two players in the top 10 in home runs (South Carolina).
With 44 RBIs on the season, Lewis is fifth in the nation. Lewis and Sullivan rank in the top 10 among conference players in six offensive categories.
Making his second consecutive mid-week start is Ryan Pettys. Pettys started last week's midweek contest against Florida A&M, where he went a season-high 2.1 innings with five strikeouts against the Rattlers. Alabama will counter with Jacob McNairy, who is 3-1 on the season in 25 innings pitched, recording 21 strikeouts and only four walks.

The Crimson Tide are 21-8 on the season but only 3-6 in SEC play. They have the 10th-highest batting average in the country at .323. Alabama has played eight midweek games entering the matchup with Troy and holds a perfect 8-0 mark in those pairings.
