TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball head coach Chanda Rigby announced Tuesday the addition of Zay Dyer to the Trojans' roster for the 2023-24 season. Dyer joins the Trojans following one season at Georgia State.
A first team all-state selection at Maynard Jackson High School in 2022, Dyer averaged 6.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game as a freshman at Georgia State last season, where she played in all 33 games and started 18 contests.
"Zay is the type of versatile post player that is perfect for our system," Rigby said. "She can run, rebound, score and block shots. She is skilled and poised and demands her defender's full attention. We are thrilled to have her battling with us in a Troy jersey for the next three years."
A 6-foot-2 forward, Dyer led Georgia State with 12 points and 11 rebounds in the Panthers' game against Troy this past season. Additionally, she scored in double-figures on 11 different occasions, including five double-doubles. Dyer finished the season second on the Georgia State squad with a 50.5 shooting percentage from the floor.
Dyer was named the best rebounder in 5A by the Georgia High School Athletic Association in addition to her all-state nod. She scored 24 points in Maynard Jackson's upset over eventual state champion Woodward during the regular season and helped lead a run to the Elite Eight.
