DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Laura Fangmeyer shot up the leaderboard, and Troy climbed a spot into a three-way tie for sixth place following Monday's second round of the Sun Belt Women's Golf Championship at LPGA International Golf Course.
Fangmeyer, one of two freshmen in Troy's lineup, carded five birdies to jump 20 spots into a tie for 17th place overall. She opened with birdies on the third and seventh before making the turn at 1-over. Fangmeyer followed with birdies on No. 11 and No. 13 before closing her day with a three on the par-4, 340-yard 18th.
The Trojans were on fire out of the shoot this morning shooting 3-under as a team before an hour-long weather delay pulled teams off the course.
ULM moved past Texas State into the lead with a 5-over 293 on the day. The Warhawks hold a 3-shot advantage over the Bobcats heading into Tuesday's final round. Arkansas State is eight shots back in third place and Georgia Southern is 10 shots back in fourth.
The Trojans find themselves just a shot back of South Alabama for fifth place and nine shots back of Georgia Southern for fourth. However, the field is jumbled behind Troy, with four teams within seven shots of the Trojans.
ShaeLee Scarberry is Troy's 36-hole leader at 4-over par after shooting 76 on the day; she is tied for eighth place. Scarberry had birdies on two of the par-5 offerings to go along with 13 pars in her round. Scarberry and Fangmeyer are tied for third in the field with seven birdies through 36 holes of play.
Elisabeth Preus slipped into a tie for 31st place after shooting 6-over on Monday, with a birdie on the par-3 third, while Alyssa Mercado and Katelynn Altese made small moves up the leaderboard into ties for 35th and 42nd, respectively. Mercado birdied No. 2 and Altese finished her round with 12 pars.
Tuesday's final round pairings have Troy played with James Madison in twosomes; the Dukes entered the Sun Belt Championship as the No. 1 seed and are tied with the Trojans following two rounds.
