Women's Golf Tied for Seventh at SBC Championship

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Led by its two seniors, the Troy women's golf team is tied for seventh place following Sunday's opening round of the Sun Belt Championship at the LPGA International Golf Course.

ShaeLee Scarberry carded five birdies on the day to shoot even-par and find herself tied for seventh place, while Elisabeth Preus shot 2-over with a birdie on the par-3 12^th to end the day tied for 17^th place.

Texas State shot 1-under and holds a five-shot lead over ULM (+3) while Georgia Southern is in third at 4-over. Troy, which is tied with South Alabama, shot 12-over par on Sunday, which is four shots back of Arkansas State for fourth place.

Scarberry's five birdies are tied for the second-most in the field, while Laura Fangmeyer had two in her first appearance at the SBC Championship.

Fangmeyer and Alyssa Mercado are tied for 37^th place at 5-over par, while Katelynn Altese is tied for 43^rdplace at 6-over.

Teams continue play Monday with the second round beginning at 7 a.m. (CT).
