Track and Field Travels North to UAB for Spring Invite

TROY, Ala. – A trip north to Birmingham, Ala., awaits the Troy track and field program from March 31 – April 1 as the team competes in the UAB Spring Invite at the UAB Track and Field Complex.
The meet starts on Friday at noon with the women's hammer throw followed by the men. Day one concludes at 6 p.m. with both sets of the 5,000m. Saturday begins at 9 a.m. in the discus throw event and remains in action until 4:15 p.m. with the 4x400m relay.

Conquering the Carolinas
The Trojans followed up seven winners in the season's opening meet with five more at the Weems Baskin Invitational. Day one saw the women's side dominate the events, with Cadi Rowe and Alejandra Gutierrez Fuente earning the gold in the 5,000m and long jump, respectively. The men kept the momentum going on day two as Gabriel Peacock (800m), Javon Osbourne (discus) and Jaggerd Moore (high jump) won their events.
Peacock led a trio of Trojans to sweep the podium for the 5,000m as Michael Marvin and Martin Bouldo took second and third. The junior topped the charts after a slow start, rising four spots in the last lap to finish at 1:55.47. Osbourne's dominance came in two events. After winning his discus event, the sophomore threw a 17.45m in the shot put to place second. His mark pushed him to 27th in the East Region for the event.
