Tai’Sheka Porchia Named Sun Belt Player of the Week

TROY, Ala. – Coming off a week in which she scored 28 points in one game, hit a game-winning shot in another and averaged a double-double, Troy's Tai'Sheka Porchia has been named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Porchia averaged 20 points and 13.5 rebounds in Troy's wins at Texas State and Louisiana, in addition to blocking three shots and coming away with four steals across the two games.
A native of Camden, Ark., Porchia scored 28 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in Thursday's game at Texas State, in which the Trojans rallied from down nine in the fourth quarter to come away with the victory. She scored seven points in the fourth quarter and 19 in the second half, in addition to swiping three steals and blocking two shots in the game.
Porchia delivered the heroics in the Trojans' overtime victory at Louisiana on Saturday, hitting a jumper with 1.8 seconds remaining to put Troy on top, 81-80. She scored 12 points and had 12 rebounds in the game for her second double-double of the week.
Both of Troy's wins last week came against teams who were one game back of the Trojans in the conference standings. The Trojans now have a two-game lead over a five-team logjam for second place with six games remaining in the regular season.
Troy hosts Arkansas State on Thursday at 5:15 p.m. in Trojan Arena.
