TROY, Ala. – Almost 60 percent of the way through the conference schedule, Troy finds itself where it is accustomed to being, at the top of the league standings. However, if the Trojans want to remain there, they will have to navigate their most challenging road swing of the season, beginning with Texas State on Thursday.
Troy (13-8, 8-2 SBC) enters the week a game up on four teams tied for second and two of those teams, Texas State and Louisiana, play host to the Trojans this week. Tip-off between Troy and Texas State from Strahan Arena is set for 7 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
Riding the hot hand of Sun Belt Player of the Week and NCAA Starting Five selection Ja'Mia Hollings, Troy knocked off South Alabama and Georgia Southern last by an average of 21 points extending its streak of 75-point games to 14 straight in the process.
Hollings averaged 21 points and 15 rebounds in the two games and became just the second Trojan in the program's DI history to record 20-plus points and rebounds in the same game.
The Trojans have won five straight games over Texas State (15-6, 7-3) by an average of 21 points, including a 79-63 victory over the Bobcats on Dec. 31. Troy outscored the Bobcats in all four quarters behind 15 points from Nia Daniel and Makayia Hallmon and a double-double by Janeen Camp.
Texas State bounced back from a tough loss to South Alabama on Jan. 21 for a pair of wins last week over Old Dominion and Southern Miss. The Bobcats are led by Da'Nasia Hood's 15.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.
