TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's soccer program announced Friday afternoon the addition of six players for the class of 2024 in the early signing period.
The players come from all over the country, including Florida, Maryland, Indiana, Georgia and Alabama.
"As a coaching staff, we really feel our first signing class are Sun Belt Conference type players," head coach Stuart Gore said. "This is a blue-collar, hardworking and athletic conference. All six of these players, we feel, can improve our team as freshmen. "
Mia Jackson | Forward | Atlanta, Ga. | Mill Creek High School
Jackson joins the Troy soccer program after an impressive high school career. The 5-8 forward was a three-time 7A region champion (2021-23) — and was the state runner-up in 2022. Jackson scored 23 goals over her four seasons. Some of her honors include being named the offensive player of the year her freshman season and winning player of the match on March 14, 2023, when she scored a hat trick against Forsyth Central.
The Atlanta native also competed in track and field during high school and competed in the 400-meter at the Junior Olympics held in Houston, Texas.
Carlin Costell | Midfielder/Defender | Columbia, Maryland | Glenelg High School
Costell —a Maryland state champion — looks to be a cornerstone of the Trojan's defense for years to come. During her time at Glenelg High School, Costell and the Gladiators put together an impressive 48-11-4 record. Of those 63 games, Costell and the defense put together 31 shutouts.
In 2022, Costell and Glenelg High School were state finalists before winning the title the next season. Costell is a three-time first-team all-county — as named by the Howard County Times. She was a first-team all-state in 2023 and a second-team all-state in 2022.
Sofia Sasan | Forward | Huntsville, Ala. | Sparkman High School
Coming off a 2023 7A state championship, the native Alabaman looks to add to the Trojan offense when she arrives on campus. Sasan has scored 57 goals so far in her high school career, including 25 in her junior season. Her lowest goal total came during her freshman season when she scored 15 goals.
She has been named to the first-team all-metro (forwards) three times. She was also the player of the tournament for the 2023 Golden Goal Tournament. Sasan is a two-sport athlete, also competing in basketball.
Imani Hamilton | Defender | Huntsville, Ala. | Sparkman High School
Born in Huntsville, Ala., Hamilton looks to be a stabilizing force for the Trojan defense. She and her teammates at Sparkman High School have accumulated an impressive 46-14-1 record. Hamilton has four career goals through three seasons of high school soccer.
The 5-10 defender was the 2022 Sparkman Varsity Defender of the Year. She is a three-sport athlete, also taking part in basketball and archery.
Megan Hamm | Midfielder | Carmel, Indiana | Carmel High School
The 5-6 midfielder was a member of the Carmel High School varsity team for all four seasons. She has recorded 35 goals and 27 assists. Those numbers have helped her receive 10 player of the game honors.
Hamm was a state runner-up in both her sophomore and junior years. During her senior season, she and the Greyhounds were sectional champions. Hamm, a two-sport athlete, has also played basketball.
Brooke Slater | Defender | Palm Harbor, Fla. | Florida Premier
Slater, a native of Palm Harbor, Fla., has had an impressive and extensive soccer career. She has played soccer for 12 years, nine of which have come at the club level. She has also competed in the Elite Club National League for two years.
She brings an impressive level of versatility to Troy, having played left back, center back and forward. She is currently playing for Florida Premier, which qualified for the playoffs last year.
The players come from all over the country, including Florida, Maryland, Indiana, Georgia and Alabama.
