Troy Closes out South Alabama to Split Series

Mobile, Ala. – Troy closed out South Alabama at 3-1 (16-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-19) win inside Jaguar Gym on Friday evening to split the two-match series.
Amiah Butler took control of the Troy (13-9, 11-1 SBC) offense with 22 kills, two blocks and a dig. Tori Hester followed close behind with 21 kills, an ace and nine digs.
The third set started with the Trojans and the Jaguars trading points. Troy built a lead of seven points at 21-17 behind an ace from Sara Bates and a kill from Hester. The Jaguars rallied behind Abryanna Cannon to lower the deficit to five at 23-18. Butler quickly closed the door, slamming two kills to end the match at 25-20.
Janelle Stuempfig handed out 44 assists, adding a pair of aces and blocks. Defensively, Jaci Mesa tallied 23 digs, while at the net, Butler and Stuempfig each recorded two blocks.
Hannah Maddux led South Alabama (18-6, 9-3 SBC) with 19 kills and four digs. Kaile Keeble dished out 37 assists with eight digs. Defensively, the Jaguars were led by Paige Lynn with 16 digs.
The Trojans return home to face Texas State in a two-match series starting on Friday, November 3rd, 2023.

- Amiah Butler tied her career high of 22 kills in tonight's match.
- Jaci Mesa set a new career high of 23 digs, her previous being 21 digs against Southern Miss (9/30/22).
- Maleah Howe saw match action for the second week in a row, recording a career-high of three kills and one block in tonight's match.
- The Trojan offensive attack recorded 59 kills as opposed to the Jaguars' 40. Troy had double-figure kills in every set.
