TROY, Ala. – After a successful three-year career handling shortstop for the Trojans, Jesse Hall returns to the team as a graduate assistant coach, head coach Skylar Meade announced Friday.
"We are excited to bring back Jesse, following the loss of Landon to the Braves organization," Meade said. "Jesse was the poster child for what we want our program to stand for last year, and I know that his consistency in life will spill into his coaching. We look to Jesse helping our players in various ways to get better daily."
Hall, who joined the Troy program in 2020 after two years at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College, played in all 56 games last season and led the Trojan offense in batting average (.326), at-bats (221), runs (45), hits (72), doubles (19), and RBIs (44). He also had 20 multi-hit games and 11 games with multiple RBIs, each the most by a Troy player. In addition, against Appalachian State last year, Hall tied the record for most doubles in a game by a single player with four.
The Tallahassee, Fla. native knocked in the game-winning run in the top of the ninth of Troy's quarterfinal game with Coastal Carolina in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament last season and was named to the All-Sun Belt Tournament team.
Through 107 games played in the cardinal and white, Hall started 96 of them, finishing with a career batting average of .307, 112 hits, 28 doubles, four home runs, and 61 RBIs.
"I'm grateful that coach Meade and his staff gave me this opportunity to be a part of the Troy family again with this role," Hall said. "The program is taking off with all the new upgrades, and I'm so excited to be a part of it. Can't wait to get back on the field with the guys and do whatever I can to help the team succeed."
Hall and the rest of the Trojan coaching staff will lead the Trojans as the 2023 season begins on February 17 from the newly renovated Riddle-Pace Field as Troy hosts Evansville.
