Troy Finishes 11th After Final Round at USA Intercollegiate

MOBILE, Ala. – The Troy women's golf team faltered on the final day of the USA Intercollegiate on Monday as the Trojans finished the day 20 over par and finished 11th overall after three days of golf at the Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course.
Laura Fangmeyer finishes her first collegiate tournament with a 71 on Saturday and shot under par for the first time in her career. The freshman had birdies on the seventh and ninth holes after netting a bogey on the third hole. Fangmeyer was the highest finisher for Troy as she landed tied for 16th overall.
Katelynn Altese had her best outing of the weekend on Monday as she shot an even 72 on the day and finished the tournament at plus eight overall. Altese recorded four birdies on the tournament's final day, but two bogeys and a double bogey left her at even par. Overall, she finished the tournament tied for 51st.
Jillian Friyia was the second-best player for Troy through three days of the tournament but stumbled this afternoon and finished with a one-over-par score on Monday. Over the weekend, Friyia netted a score of plus five and finished tied for 37th among players in the field.
Brinson Hall struggled to begin her day on Monday as she faltered with three bogeys on the front nine. The returner was able to rebound with a birdie on the 11th hole but would finish three over on the afternoon. Hall finished tied for 60th on the tournament after shooting plus 11 through three days.
Samantha Straight had two birdies on her scorecard after round three in Mobile. However, four bogeys and a double bogey put the rookie at four over on the day. After three rounds of golf, Straight finished tied for 63rd and netted a score of 12 over par.
