Troy Stumbles against Louisiana

TROY, Ala. – It wasn't the Trojan's night as the visiting Louisiana Ragin Cajuns salvaged a split after beating Troy in straight sets (19-25, 15-25, 21-25) Friday night at Trojan Arena.
For Troy (7-7), Tori Hester was the only Trojan to see double-digit kills with 11, as Julia brooks followed with nine. However, it wasn't the cleanest game by the Trojans, with 11 service errors and a .123 hitting percentage.
Louisiana (7-4) saw eight different players finish with at least one kill, as Celeste Darling led the team with nine. Reka Kotorman led all players in the match with 22 assists. The Ragin' Cajuns had two players with double-digit digs, while Troy didn't have any.
Set One: The two teams battled for much of the first set as a Brooks kill had the match even at 12-12. Three straight points from Louisiana saw them take the lead for good heading into the media timeout. The lead stretched to seven towards the end of the set as Troy couldn't mount a comeback.
Set Two: Louisiana was in control of the set from the very start despite hitting a match low .161 Troy never led or managed a tie but got within in one point at 9-10 after a Halston Hillier kill. Hillier was one of three Trojans to record a kill. However, with 40 attacks for Troy, they only connected for 10 while committing 16 errors to find themselves down 2-0 in the match.
Set Three: There was not to be another epic three-set comeback as there was the night before. Troy looked to start off well, connecting with their first five kills and jumping out to a 6-3 lead. However, Louisiana fought back, and with the set tied 13-13, A kill from Kotorman started a five-point swing forcing Troy to call a timeout down five. Troy continued to fight, trying to close the gap and getting in within three, but the Louisiana attack finished the set and the match.
Up Next: Troy will hit the road for the first time in conference play as they take on one of the conference's newest members in Southern Miss next week, September 30 at 6 p.m. and October 1 at 1 p.m.
