Troy Prepares for Exhibition Home Match Against Montevallo

TROY, Ala. –Troy women's soccer concludes the short exhibition season with its sole home match against Montevallo on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Troy Soccer Complex.
The Trojans finish their preseason after dominating the spring schedule, finishing undefeated at 3-0 which includes two home wins over Samford and AUM.
Looking at the 2022 Trojans
Lindsey LaRoche, who finished last season and ranked second in the Sun Belt for goals-against average at 0.90 and third in save percentage at 82.4 percent, returns as the primary netminder for the Trojans, with Gabby Cossette and freshman Nittany Vega backing her up.
Five of Troy's top scorers, Erin Bloomfield, Ella Owen, Taytum Terrell, Nia Wilson and Lisa Blankestein, return with 94 percent of the team's goal-scoring accounted for from last season. In addition, Terrell keeps Troy involved in the passing game, accounting for a team-high three assists last season. Overall, Troy retained 82 percent of last season's passers in terms of assists – 9-of-11.
Troy revamped its roster, bringing in freshmen Abria Smith, Halee Bradbury, Vega, Jordan Schaetzly and Grace Havard as its signing class of 2022. Troy also welcomes Chicago State's Jayla Gage, Georgia's Jocelyn Garcia and High Point's Ashley Rainho from the transfer portal.

Robert Lane's Reunion
Saturday's match marks a reunion between head coach Robert Lane and Montevallo, having coached the Falcons from 2015-18. Lane turned the Falcons around in his four years, with his first season recorded at 2-13-2 and final season at 10-7-3.
The match also marks the second meeting between the opponents, with the first being a 2-1 victory in favor of the Trojans back in 2000.
Montevallo's 2021 Season Recap
Montevallo finished 8-8-1 last season despite the tough 2-4 start. The Falcons turned it around, winning three straight matches over Union, Francis Marion and Spring Hill by a combined score of 10-0.
The Falcons enter 2022, losing their two top scorers in Allye Darnell and Heather Gomez. Together, the duo accounted for 10 goals and six assists. Marica Miljanovic leads the charge for the Falcons after playing all 17 games for Montevallo last season. The sophomore finished the season with three goals and two assists, including a game-winning goal against Francis Marion.
