Troy Athletics Announces Full NIL Plan for Student-Athletes

TROY, Ala. – Troy Athletics announced Thursday its complete Name, Image and Likeness plan that has already been implemented for its student-athletes. Troy's comprehensive NIL plan is designed to provide Troy's student-athletes with the best opportunity to capitalize on their NIL and provide them with the necessary educational tools to protect them in an ever-changing environment.

"It is our responsibility to provide our student-athletes with every opportunity to be successful on the court, in the classroom and in the community," Director of Athletics Brent Jones said. "Name, image and likeness has swept the collegiate athletics landscape over the past 12 months, and we have used due diligence and been responsive in nature when putting together our plan to support our more than 400 student-athletes.

"This is a collaborative and comprehensive plan that involves amazing university resources, our outstanding community and respected partners," Jones said. "We are excited to officially announce our efforts as we continue to strive to put our student-athletes in the best possible position to succeed."

Education and Training
Troy Athletics is partnering with Troy University Sorrell College of Business, the Troy University IDEA Bank and professional accountants to create an NIL certificate program for all student-athletes.Â

• This certificate program will consist of social media/personal branding, financial literacy and tax implications, NCAA compliance, and how to work with vendors/companies.  Â

• All student-athletes will have the ability to utilize the resources provided by the IDEA Bank
Â
• Student-athletes will have the ability to take the entrepreneur class each semester at the Sorrell College of Business.Â
Â
• Professional speakers will provide tax education as it relates to NIL earnings.

Troy Athletics has developed partnerships with Opendorse and The Brandr Group to assist student-athletes reach their growth potential in the NIL market.

• Opendorse will provide Troy student-athletes with a branded marketplace for NIL opportunities. The Troy-branded marketplace will contain a complete directory of Troy student-athletes. With this new platform, interested third parties can contact, book, pitch and pay any Troy student-athlete for NIL activities in one compliant platform, built specifically for the student-athletes' needs. This location will be a one-stop shop where fans and businesses can connect directly with our student-athletes to provide NIL opportunities.

• Opendorse Ready Education is the elite NIL education solution in college athletics. The program provides student-athletes with industry-proven assessment, education, and performance tools to understand, build, and protect your personal brand as we enter a new era.Â

• Opendorse Content is the marketing product athletes use to build their brands. Student-athletes receive on-demand access to share photos and videos from games, practices and more. Athletes can also receive content suggestions from their teams, encouraging fan engagement, fundraising initiatives, ticket sales and more.

• Opendorse Compliance is where student-athletes can automatically disclose activity details to their institution after completing NIL deals to ensure eligibility.

• Student-athletes will have the opportunity to join a group licensing program of three-or-more individuals from the same team or one with six or more student-athletes from any combination of teams.Â

• TBG also manages the group rights program for the NFL, NBA and MLB players' associations in the college space.Â

• Fans will be able to purchase official Troy merchandise, including team jerseys, with the name and number of their favorite Trojans who have joined the respective group licensing program.

• Every eligible student-athlete at Troy University will have the opportunity to become a paid brand ambassador with Adidas. They will promote the brand using tracking links, send their audience to adidas.com to shop, and are rewarded for the sales they send.Â

• PlayFly who is the multimedia rights holder for Troy University Athletics will expand their partnership to allow for sponsorship opportunities for student-athletes.
