Men's Golf Adds Greg Jones

TROY, Ala. – Following a successful first season under head coach Forrest Schultz, the Trojans added a new member to its squad for the 2022-23 season with the addition of Greg Jones, a transfer from Montevallo.

"We are excited to add Greg into the lineup next fall and round out our roster for the 2022-23 season," Schultz said. "Greg has the ability to go low and has already proven himself as a winner in the collegiate ranks. I am excited to work with him next fall and see how far we can push this young man. I know he will be a great fit with our guys, and I am looking forward to seeing what he will bring to the table."

Jones helped lead UMS Wright High School to a trio of Alabama 4A/5A state titles during his prep career, and he tied for second at the 2020 Alabama State Junior Championship. Additionally, he was named to the 2020 Alabama Golf Association Junior All-State Second Team.

During his freshman season at Montevallo, Jones led the Falcons to the team title at the Full Moon BBQ Invitational as he shot 7-under over two rounds to finish in a tie for first place. Jones was consistent throughout the season, with 24 of his 26 rounds counting towards the team card.

Jones joins a Trojan roster that returns their top five scorers from last year, including All-Sun Belt selections Brantley Scott and Will McFadden.

"With the addition of Greg, I feel like we have some serious depth on our roster," Schultz said. "This will elevate our intrasquad competition next year and bring out the best in our men."

In Schultz's first season, Troy played nine rounds under par as a team, combined for 50 individual rounds under par, and posted a 97-53-2 record. Last year, Troy had one team round under par, 21 individual rounds under par and a 21-79 overall record.
