Five Trojans Punch Their Ticket to Bloomington for NCAA East Preliminaries

TROY, Ala.- The Troy track and field team has five Trojans heading to Bloomington, Indiana, for the NCAA East Preliminaries from May 25-28, the NCAA announced Thursday afternoon.

Edita Sklenska is the only Trojan representing the women's team in the 800-meter run. The junior is fresh off a gold-medal performance in the Sun Belt Championships that resulted in her being the only Trojan named to the All-Sun Belt first team. Her time of 2:05.01, set at the Crimson Tide Invitational, put her 22nd in the region.

Three throwers carry the NCAA appearances on the men's side in Cole Stewart, Marek Taskar and Javon Osbourne. Stewart (31st) and Taskar (44th) ranked in the top-48 for the east region in the javelin throw event. At the SBC Championship, Cole Stewart took home the silver medal after hitting a personal record of 67.36-meters. Taskar followed suit at the league championships, coming in fourth at 65.10-meters.Â

Osbourne represents the Trojans in the discus event after throwing a 55.64-meter throw on April 16 at the War Eagle Invitational. The freshman has a team-high eight podium finishes, including five in discus, with three gold medals.Â

Julian Martin-Rogers punched his ticket at the SBC championship preliminaries for the 110-meter hurdles event. The junior topped off at 13.94 to rank 36th in the East region.
