Women's Tennis Gets Back in Rhythm

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - Ending a 19-point drought over the past four matches, Troy gets back in the win column with a 4-1 victory over Jacksonville State at JSU Tennis Courts.
The Trojans (5-6) close out the nonconference chapter of their schedule with a huge victory to end a four-match losing streak.
Ending the Drought
Troy entered its match against JSU, having not scored a point since Feb. 16 against North Alabama.
The drought quickly ended after Troy swept the Gamecocks (4-6) in doubles competition to claim the 1-0 lead.
Michelle Ncube / Kristina Kukaras opened the sweep over Dariana Prato / Ella Tuomela, defeating the Gamecocks, 6-3.
Franziska Ahrend / Hagar Amin and Anastasiia Khokhlova / Andrea Widing found their way back into the win column for doubles, following Ncube / Kukaras to end the 19-point drought.
Clinching the Match
Ncube and Olivia Elliott put Troy up 3-0, winning their singles matches. Ncube's match was the only one to end without needing an extra set, 6-3, 6-2.
Elliott took it to an extra set after dropping her first against Zuzana Pavelekova, 3-6, before winning the second, 6-2.
In the extra set, Elliott took off in dominating fashion to grab Troy's third point, 6-3.
After Khokhlova fell (6-4, 3-6, 2-6) to Romane Mosse, it was up to Ahrend to claim the match point.
Ahrend fell in the first set, 3-6, before taking it to Kennedi Jones, winning the following two sets, 6-3, 6-2, to seize the victory.
