TROY, Ala. – Troy men's golf head coach Forrest Schultz announced Thursday the addition of Jason Quinlan to the Trojans' program beginning with the 2022-23 season. Quinlan joins the Trojans after transferring from South Carolina.
The 2020 Golfweek Streamsong Amateur Champion, Quinlan was the top-ranked recruit in the class of 2020 out of Georgia and the 49th-ranked player nationally in the class of 2020 by Junior Golf Scoreboard. Additionally, the Georgia 7A individual runner-up was ranked 89th overall among all players by the Junior Golf Scoreboard.
"I am extremely excited to add Jason to our roster next fall," Schultz said. "He recently had a strong 2021 year of amateur golf, finishing with a 71.76 stroke average in five highly-ranked events. Most notably, he finished second at the Palmetto Amateur during that run. Jason has a lot of distance, and he knows how to get the ball in the hole. He will be a great asset for this program and will quickly strengthen our team."
A four-time all-state selection for West Forsyth High School, Quinlan was named the 2020 Georgia State Golf Association Golfer of the Year after helping lead West Forsyth to the Georgia 7A state title.
Quinlan is currently ranked No. 964 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and comes to Troy with three years of eligibility remaining. He tied for fourth place at the 2019 AJGA Pinehurst Junior and followed that up with a tie for 13th place performance at the Boys Junior PGA Championship one year after tying for 12th at the event.
