Troy Falls to No. 2 Florida State

TROY, Ala. – The Troy Softball team fell to No. 2 Florida State, 12-0, Wednesday at the Troy Softball Complex.
Trojan faithful packed the stands for the Wednesday midweek tilt, setting a Troy Softball Complex attendance record with 2,121 fans.
The Seminoles (28-2) struck first in the top of the first off a two-run home run from Michaela Edenfield.
Troy (18-8) saw its best look when two runners got aboard in the bottom half of the frame, thanks to a pair of two-out walks, but a ground out stranded the runners.
After Candela Figueroa recorded Troy's lone hit in the bottom of the second, back-to-back home runs from Edenfield and Devyn Flaherty and an RBI double tacked on five runs for Florida State in the top of the third.
The Seminoles went on to string together four consecutive hits in the top of the fourth to take an 11-0 lead. A final run in the top of the fifth off an RBI single by Kristina Hartley set up the 12-0 final.
Leanna Johnson (11-4) suffered the loss for the Trojans after giving up five hits in 2.1 innings of work.
Kathryn Sandercock (15-0) earned the win after entering in the third and recording a three up, three down frame.

The Trojans will hit the road for the Peach State on Friday for a three-game series with Georgia Southern. First pitch from Eagle Field is set for 5 p.m.
