Women’s Golf Finishes Seventh at Spring Opener

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – In a spring opener that played nothing like a spring opener, the Troy women's golf team finished seventh at the Lady Bison Classic at Bay Point, which wrapped play Tuesday. Teams battled low temperatures, rain and wind over the two-day event.

The average score across the 87-player field for the 54-hole event settled at 81.83, and there were just four rounds under par carded, all just 1-under.

Elisabeth Preus led Troy as she tied for seventh place overall with a rare two rounds in the 70s. On Tuesday, she played a relatively clean round with a pair of birdies and just three bogeys to shoot a 1-over 73, which was the fourth-best round on the golf course during the third round.

ShaeLee Scarberry turned in her third top-25 finish of the year as she finished ahead of the course average with a 19-over par 235, good for a tie for 24^th place. She recorded one birdie in her final round and five for the week. Anna Claire Little finished a shot back of Scarberry in a tie for 27^th place and joined Preus with two rounds in the 70s. Little ended the week with eight birdies on her card, the third-most in the field.

Elizabeth Caldarelli tied for 48^th place overall following two rounds of 83 and another of 81, while Bruna Roqueta rebounded from a rocky start to shoot the third-best round of Tuesday's action with an even-par 72. She carded three birdies on the day and finished 56^th overall. Playing as an individual, Brinson Hall placed 75^th.
