His nine victories were the most in the conference by any pitcher and most in the country by a freshman starter, while his 83 strikeouts led league freshmen and ranked seventh overall in the conference. In addition, the Cairo, Ga., native sat down 29 batters looking, the second-most in the Sun Belt.
Two Trojans garnered Preseason All-Sun Belt honors in Caleb Bartolero and Rigsby Mosley. This is the second straight year Bartolero has picked up the honor and the fourth consecutive year for Mosley.
The Trojans return some valuable depth in the bullpen as Senior Marquez Oates returns after leading the Sun Belt in saves last season with eight. In the preseason, Oates was named to the D1 Top 75 Relief Pitchers list.
The Trojans will see plenty of new faces this season, with nine players transferring into the team highlighted by outfielder Trey Leonard, who transfers from Louisville. Six true freshmen are also on this year's roster, all looking to make an immediate impact for the Trojans.
