TROY, Ala. – Troy men's basketball continues its class of 2023 by signing Jerrell Bellamy from Chattahoochee Valley Community College, head coach Scott Cross announced Wednesday afternoon.
"Coach Hicks told me about Jerrell last spring, and Coach Worley and Coach Jones watched him live this summer," Cross said. "He is a high-level athlete, one of the best we have had at Troy. He will be great at pick and rolls, has a great jump hook on the low block, and can stretch out to the three-point line with his jumper. He will be a very coachable player that knows how to win and play."
Bellamy played 30 games with the Pirates in his freshman season, making 26 starts. In the 2021-22 season, the Phenix City native averaged nine points on 62 percent shooting from the field and 40 percent from deep.
The 6-9 forward is an elite shot blocker with 1.3 blocks per game. He also can crash the boards, averaging 6.4 rebounds. Bellamy currently averages seven points, seven rebounds and 1.5 blocks through two games this season.
At Central Phenix City high school, Bellamy earned the sixth man of the year honors for 7A. As a Red Devil, Bellamy was a multisport athlete with football. When he comes to Troy, Bellamy intends to major in Business.
