Stetson Hatters Invitational
When: Friday, Nov. 4 – Sunday, Nov. 6
Location: Stetson, Fla. – Mandy Stoll Tennis Center
Kristina Kukaras comes off a dominating performance at the Roberta Alison Fall Classic that ended with her walking away with the Patti Famer Singles draw crown.
The junior edged her way through the first round against Alabama's Klara Milicevic, 2-6, 6-3, 10-8, before quickly punching her ticket to the finals over Tereza Dejnozkova from South Alabama, 6-4, 6-3. Kukaras dominated in straight sets in the championship to pull out the draw victory, 6-3, 6-3, for the first of her career.
Hagar Amin joined her with a consultation crown after losing in the opening round to Michigan State's Juliette Nask, 7-6 (6), 6-4. After that, it was all Amin as she battled back from losing the first set, 6-7 (4), to Pilar Astigarrga Harper from Stetson. In the following two sets, the sophomore made quick work of her opponent, winning 6-1, 10-1.
The last the Trojans were in Stetson, Fla., was last spring against the Hatters. Stetson forced Troy to start the season 0-2, despite Michelle Ncube / Kukaras and Andrew Widing / Anastasiia Khokhlova giving Troy the early 1-0 advantage through doubles. In the end, Kukaras finished 2-0 on the day, but Troy fell 5-2.
