TROY, Ala. – For the second week in a row, Troy will match up with one of the Sun Belt's newest members when Marshall comes to town for a two-game series beginning on October 6 at 6 p.m. and October 7 from Trojan Arena.
"We are looking to build off some excellent play last weekend and continue to see our consistency grow each week as the conference slate progresses," head coach Josh Lauer said. "We have another competitive test this weekend against Marshall. They are a well-coached team and will be ready to play, so we must be focused and use the energy our fans create in Trojan Arena."
The first two weeks of conference play have seen Troy each split matches with Louisiana and Southern Miss, in which Troy saw their second sweep of the season come against the Golden Eagles. This will only be the second and third time these two programs have squared off. The Trojans won the only previous matchup in 2019 3-1, played in St. Louis.
Sophomore Tori Hester will look to continue to lead the Trojan offense as the Salisbury, N.C. native has been one of the premier players in the country. Coming off a weekend where Hester set a new career high with 27 kills, she now ranks 10th in the nation in total kills with 268 and with 301.0 points thus far; she is ninth in the country in the category.
Troy will look to put up a solid defensive effort and limit Marshall's attack as the Trojans are giving up a season-high .231 opponent hitting percentage which is the highest in the Sun Belt Conference.
Julia Brooks continues her quest to become Troy's all-time block solo leader as she currently sits with 78 in her career, which is good enough for second and is seven away from becoming the leader in the category. Brooks also moved into fifth place with 287 total blocks in her Trojan career.
After becoming Troy's all-time career assists leader, Amara Anderson has her sights on the Sun Belt record as she is one of two active players in the conference with over 5,000 assists. With a total of 5,126 assists, Anderson is 577 assists away from becoming the Sun Belt leader.
