Women’s Golf Finishes Strong on Final Day in Jupiter

JUPITER, Fla. – The Troy University women's golf team finished strong on Tuesday's second and final day of the Jupiter Women's Invitational. The Trojans shot the lowest round of any school in the field on Tuesday, netting a 284 to finish third overall.
Newcomer Katelynn Altese led the Trojans on day two. After struggling through her first two rounds of the day, Altese was tied for the lowest score on the course in the tournament. She shot a 67 on Tuesday, which netted her a top 25 finish on the individual leaderboards.
On Tuesday, Laura Fangmeyer continued her strong start to her collegiate career at the Jonathan's Landing Golf Club. The freshman reached a 13th-place finish after shooting a 71 in round three. She netted six birdies, including four on the front nine.
After a strong first day on the course, Bruna Roqueta solidified a spot in the top 10 with another strong performance in round three. The junior from Spain shot a 73 to conclude her tournament. Her overall score of 217 was tied for 10th in the field and led the Trojans after three days of action.
Freshman Jillian Friyia saved her best round of golf for the third round. The rookie netted a tournament-low 73 on Tuesday and was able to finish the tournament tied for 23rd. Friyia recorded a birdie on the eighth hole before securing a mark on the 17th frame as well.
After shooting a then season-low, ShaeLee Scarberry struggled on the final day of the Jupiter Women's Invitational. At one point through the day, Scarberry was second on the individual leaderboards, but she would finish with an 81 to fall to tied for 16th in the standings after three rounds of play.

After more than a month between tournaments to open the season, the Trojans will only have to wait less than a week until their next competition. Troy will travel to Jonesboro, Arkansas, to participate in the Lady Red Wolves Classic on October 10 and 11.
