TROY, Ala. – Despite cutting the deficit in half early in the second half, Troy fell 2-1 on the road at Jackson State Thursday.

Both teams came out the gates firing, recording a pair of shots before the five-minute mark.

Jackson State (1-2) took an early lead in the 15th minute when Maya-Joy Thompson found the back of the net off a pass by Marley Thompson.

Just two minutes, an own goal brought the Tiger to lead to two scores.

Despite, five shot attempts, all of which were on goal, the Trojans struggled to cut into the deficit during the first half.

However, behind the right foot of Erin Bloomfield, Troy found their only goal of the afternoon in the 60th minute, a strike into the lower right corner of the net.

The Trojans saw a couple of opportunities down the stretch with a pair of shots by Gabrielle Chartier and Caylah Williams and a corner in the 89th minute, but couldn't produce the game-tying goal.

Trojan Notes

Erin Bloomfield recorded her fifth goal of the season this afternoon. The freshman has scored all but one of Troy's goals this season.
Kate Eubanks extended her match-started streak to 45 consecutive matches.
Eubanks also received a pair of yellow cards during the matchup.
Today marks the first time the Trojans have fallen to Jackson State in program history.
