Troy Football Gameday Need to Know; Southern Game

TROY, Ala . – Football is back at The Vet on Saturday when Troy opens its 2021 season against Southern. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. between the Trojans and Jaguars. Below is a full breakdown of all the happenings in and around the stadium before and during the game Saturday.

Fans can visit TroyTrojans.com/Gameday prior to each visit to campus to see the latest information on parking, traffic flow and tickets for each of Troy's home games.Â
Â
Dual-Band Performances
Fans will be treated to a double-shot of band performances at the home opener, with a pair of world-renowned marching bands putting on halftime performances. Troy's Sound of the South Marching Band, under the direction of Mark Walker, will perform on the field both pregame and at halftime. In addition, Southern's Human Jukebox and Dancing Dolls will also be in attendance for the game and perform at halftime.

Postgame Fireworks
Fans will want to be sure to stick around for the entire game as a postgame fireworks spectacular will light up the sky around Veterans Memorial Stadium in conjunction with the Sound of the South's postgame performance.

Fan Prizes
Troy Athletics and its corporate partners will be giving out prizes to lucky fans throughout the game. Included in the give-a-ways is a chance to win a 2021 Dodge Ram1500 from Premier Dodge, food from Momma Goldberg's, Half Shell and Wintzell's, gift cards to Publix and cash from Guardian Credit Union. Additionally, free airfare from the Montgomery Regional Airport, a Conecuh Sausage prize pack and a $500 Troy University book scholarship will be given away.

Troy Athletics Kids Zone
The Troy Kids Zone opens at 2 p.m. in Tailgate Terrace. Children of all ages are invited to take part in the fun with free inflatables until 5 p.m.  This year, new to the Kids Zone will be a pair of Troy inflatables for the kids to play on with a Troy bounce house and a Troy football/soccer interactive game.
Traffic Information
George Wallace Drive will CLOSE two (2) hours prior to kickoff until one (1) hour after the completion of the game from International Blvd. (traffic light at Charles Henderson High School) to Johnny Long Drive.Â
      - Fans with access to National Guard Armory Lot and North End Zone Lot will be granted access to those lots within the two-hour closure with the proper parking pass. ALL traffic to those lots MUST enter from the north end of George Wallace Drive – from Downtown/Elm Street not Highway 231.

Tickets are sold on gameday at the following locations:
Main Ticket Office (Tine Davis Fieldhouse) - 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Riddle-Pace Field - 12Â p.m. until halftime

Food Trucks
Food trucks return to The Vet for the home opener and will be located along University Avenue around Tailgate Terrace. Fans will be able to sample from various food trucks – Frio Gourmet Popsicles and NYC Gyros.

Horn Beverage Tailgate Terrace Concert Series
Troy's popular Horn Beverage Tailgate Concert Series returns for the 2021 season with an exciting lineup for each of the Trojans' six home games at The Vet. The free concerts will take place each week in Tailgate Terrace three hours before kickoff.

Country duo The Springs is taking the stage on Sept. 4 before the home opener against Southern. The Springs have amassed more than one million streams across platforms and opening for stars like Florida Georgia Line, Kelly Clarkson, Reba, Little Big Town, Eric Church, Alan Jackson, and many more. In addition, they have made regular appearances at CMA Music Festival; charted on the Billboard Country Chart with their latest release, "Old Fashioned," hitting #33; and their albums have landed on top 10 lists on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon Music.Â

Trojan Walk
Troy's traditional pre-game march into Veterans Memorial Stadium, Trojan Walk, will begin at the intersection of University Avenue and George Wallace Drive. The Trojans will walk through the brick portal into Tailgate Terrace before entering the stadium at Gate 1. Trojan Walk will begin at 3:45 p.m.Â

Student Guest Tickets
Troy students may continue to purchase $8 student guest tickets for this game. Students may visit the Troy Ticket Office or call 334-670-3681 to take advantage of this offer to bring family and friends to the game.Â

Troy Sports Radio Network Pregame Show
Studio host Doug Amos is joined by "Voice of the Trojans" Barry McKnight, game analyst Jerry Miller and sideline reporter Junior Louissaint on location in Tailgate Terrace for the radio pregame show beginning at 4 p.m. to preview the game on the full Troy Sports Radio Network.
Extra Yard for Teachers Appreciation Game
Troy Athletics would like to show its appreciation for local educators by offering specially priced game tickets to all elementary, middle, and high school teachers to attend the game against Southern. All teachers are eligible to purchase a $10 ticket for the game by visiting TroyTrojans.com/Teachers. Additionally, all educators will be asked to stand and be recognized during the game.

Youth Cheer Clinic
The first of two Youth Cheer Clinics will occur before the game against Southern, with participants receiving instruction from Troy's national championship cheerleading squad. The clinic is open to all children ages 5-12 and the cost is just $30 for one clinic or $50 if signing up for both clinics – the second clinic is scheduled for Nov. 13 (Louisiana).

In addition to instruction from the Troy Cheerleaders, participants will take part in an in-stadium performance during the game and join the Troy Cheerleaders at Trojan Walk.

Letterwinners from all of Troy's athletics programs are encouraged to make their way back to campus for the game, and each former letterwinner will have the opportunity to request up to four (4) complimentary tickets to the football game. Additionally, a pregame tailgate party will be held in Tailgate Terrace from 3-5 p.m. for the returning letterwinners before the 6 p.m. kickoff.Â

The day's activities are provided at no cost to the returning letterwinners and culminate with a special in-game recognition as the Trojans take on the Jaguars.
