TROY, Ala. – Former Panola College standout and Trojan newcomer Duke Deen was named an NJCAA Third Team All-American, the national organization announced last week.
Â
"Duke is so deserving of this recognition," head coach Scott Cross said. "We watched him play almost every game through a live stream for Panola College, and we knew that Duke was the real deal."
Â
The 5-10 guard averaged a team-best 20 points per game while shooting 44.6 percent from the floor. The sharpshooter also shot 41.6 percent from behind the arc and 86 percent from the charity stripe.
Â
The Shreveport, La. native, recorded three games with at least 30 points including a career-best 43-point effort against Kilgore College back on Mar. 10. Deen hit at least three triples in nine different contests.
Â
"After coaching him over the summer for eight weeks, we have grown to love him even more as a basketball player," Cross said. "He is definitely an "OKG." He is extremely coachable, a great teammate, super competitive and a great all-around basketball player. Trojan fans should be super excited to watch Duke in action this season as he helps lead our Trojans to victory."
