Troy Volleyball Earns USMC/AVCA Academic Excellence Honor

TROY, Ala. – For the eighth time in program history, Troy volleyball has been named as a United States Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award honoree, the national organization announced on Monday. The Trojans were also named to the Team Academic Honor Roll for the third-straight season, which signifies the top 20% of team GPAs from each division and is the highest scholarly achievement in volleyball.

"Every year our team sets a goal to be recognized as one of the very best teams academically in the country and once again they have achieved that honor," head coach Josh Lauer said. "Our players take great pride in their academics and I'm extremely proud of their effort and accomplishments as true student-athletes."

The team recorded a 3.68 GPA during the unprecedented 2020-21 academic year with eight Trojans posting a 4.0 GPA in the spring of 2021.

Troy was one of only 50 Division I schools in the country to be named to the Team Academic Honor Roll while a record total of 243 schools earned USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award honors.
Despite an ever-changing fall and spring schedule last season, the Trojans put together another solid season including a perfect 8-0 record inside Trojan Arena. Over the course of the last two seasons, Troy has been nearly unbeatable at home with a 22-1 home record.
