Football Well Represented on Athlon Preseason All-Sun Belt Team

TROY, Ala. – Troy was well represented on the Athlon Sports Preseason All-Sun Belt Team with 12 overall selections including Austin Stidham and Carlton Martial on the first team, the magazine recently released.

In addition to Martial and Stidham on the first team, Troy boasted a trio of second team selections with running back Kimani Vidal, offensive lineman Dylan Bradshaw and defensive tackle Will Choloh getting the nod.

Martial led the country in tackles last season and his combined tackle total for the 2019 and 2020 seasons is also tops nationally. He recorded 113 tackles in 2020 and has 239 tackles since the start of the 2019 season. Martial finished 2020 with 10.0 tackles for loss and was one of just nine players nationally to rank in the top 50 in both tackles and tackles for loss.

Stidham finished the 2020 season second nationally among offensive tackles with a 98.6 pass blocking efficiency rating per Pro Football Focus. He enters the 2021 season with 36 career starts under his belt, the most of any offensive or defensive player on the Trojan roster.

Bradshaw ranked 15th nationally among centers with a 98.8 pass block efficiency rating per Pro Football Focus. He allowed just one sack, no hits, 10 hurries and 11 pressures in 513 pass blocking situations. As a true freshman, Vidal led the Trojans with 57.3 yards per game and four touchdowns on the ground. He averaged 3.83 yards after contact, which ranked second nationally among all freshmen running backs.

Choloh ranked third nationally among interior defensive lineman with a 90.3 pass rushing grade from Pro Football Focus while his 31 pressures were the fourth most nationally – he finished with 4.5 sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss from his defensive tackle position.
