Troy Opens Sun Belt Tournament Against Arkansas State

TROY, Ala. – Troy opens competition at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament against Arkansas State in Montgomery's Riverwalk Stadium Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. The Trojans slot as the No. 3 seed in the East Division and are in Pool D alongside the Red Wolves and UTA.
Tickets are still available through the Biscuits ticket office (334.819.7483) and website. Single-game tickets may be purchased via phone or online, but all-session tournament booklets may only be purchased by calling the ticket office.

The Trojans will play their second pool play contest against UTA Friday at 3 p.m. The winner of Pool D will advance to the semifinals Saturday at noon and the tournament will conclude with the championship game Sunday, May 30 at 1 p.m.
The pool's highest seed will advance to the semifinals in the event of a 1-1 tie among the three teams in each pool.
Troy posted a 27-24 record on the season and a 13-11 mark in league play. The Trojans made a strong run up the East Division standings after winning nine of their last 12 conference games.
Sophomore lefty Kyle Gamble will get the start on the mound against the Red Wolves. Gamble struck out three in two innings in his most recent outing against Louisiana. Marquez Oates has emerged as one of the best closers in the league with eight saves, tied for the second-most in the conference.
Troy enters the tournament hitting .271 as a squad, the third-best average in the conference. Two Trojans, Drew Frederic (66) and Logan Cerny (61), rank inside the top five among league players in hits.
