To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Frederic has been a mainstay in the Troy infield since 2017, his redshirt-freshman season, which he started 50 games at third base. Frederic has received numerous honors for his play on the field throughout his storied career, including two All-Sun Belt honors, two ABCA All-Region Team selections, Athens Regional All-Tournament Team honors and the All-Sports Association Collegiate Award, a prestigious award in the Florida Panhandle.
The Niceville, Fla., native became the eighth Trojan in program history to play in 200 games on March 5th and, by the end of his career, will have played in more games than any other Trojan in school history. The speedster ranks in the top 10 of 12 different categories in the school record book. Additionally, Frederic ranks in the top 10 of eight different statistical categories among active NCAA Division I players, including ranking first in runs (192).
Frederic has been active in the Troy community during his six years in the Troy baseball program. He enjoys participating in Miracle League games and playing the game of baseball with those who are not able to do so. Frederic also gave his time helping children with their homework at the local Boys and Girls home and reading to kids at local elementary schools.
Frederic graduated with a degree in economics in the fall of 2019 and is nearing completion of his MBA.
The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists in May, who will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will then be voted on by media, coaches and fans, with the Senior CLASS Award winner being announced during the 2021 College World Series in June.
