TROY, Ala. – Troy women's golf has added Bruna Roqueta to its roster for the 2021-22 season, head coach Randy Keck announced Friday. Roqueta is transferring to Troy following two years at Lamar.
"Bruna was a very-highly touted junior player out of Spain, and she will add some depth to our roster," Keck said. "Fundamentally she has a really sound swing with good balance, and she is able to generate a lot of speed off the club. Coupled with a good short game, she will come in immediately and battle for a spot in the lineup."
Roqueta, who will have three years of eligibility remaining, played in one event for the Cardinals this season where she posted rounds of 76 and 77. As a true freshman, the native of Barcelona, Spain appeared in 15 rounds and finished the season with a 78.60 stroke average. Roqueta tied for 12th place at the Huntsville Bearkat Invitational and posted a 2-over 74 at the Little Rock Women's Golf Classic.
On the amateur circuit, Roqueta finished in second place at the Campeonato de Catalunya U18 in 2019. Additionally, she qualified for the 2019 Spanish International Ladies' Amateur Championship, Campeonato de Madrid and Campeonato de Espana Amateur – all three are "A" and "B" level events in the World Amateur Golf Rankings strength of schedule ratings.
Roqueta joins a Troy program that is slated to return almost its full lineup for next season. The Trojans open play at the Sun Belt Conference Championship this weekend at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
