TROY, Ala. – Troy is set to open an eight game homestand with a Tuesday matchup against in-state foe Samford. First pitch between the Trojans and Bulldogs is set for 6 p.m. at Riddle-Pace Field.

The Trojans will play their next eight games, and 11 of their next 12, within the friendly confines of Riddle-Pace Field. Troy is 7-1 at home compared to 0-4 on the road this season.
Troy looks to get back on track after struggling recently on the offensive side of things. After averaging 8.25 runs per game through their first eight contests, the Trojans have managed just six runs in their last four games combined. The bats did begin to show signs of life Sunday in the series finale against Southeastern Louisiana, however. Troy out hit the Lions 9-7 despite the 4-2 loss.
Nic Nolan has had the hottest bat in the lineup from the nine-hole. The newcomer is averaging .415 at the plate, which is the third-best mark in the Sun Belt. Drew Frederic has reached base in 21 consecutive games dating back to last season.
The bullpen has shown promise during the young season. Davis Burgin has emerged as a trustworthy arm after retiring all six batters he's faced in two appearances this year (2 K, 2 FO, 2 GO). Lance Johnson remains a reliable option for pitching coach Matt Hancock. Johnson has 99 career appearances on the mound for the Trojans, tied for the third-most among active Division I players. With his next appearance, he will become the third Trojan pitcher to play in at least 100 games.
Right-hander DJ Wilkinson is poised to make his third career start on the mound for Troy.
