Trojans Set For Rivalry Series at South Alabama

TROY, Ala. – Troy hits the road for its first Sun Belt road series as it takes on South Alabama in a rivalry matchup. The three-game tilt begins at Stanky Field Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

The Trojans have won two consecutive weekend series despite falling in the series-opener against both Georgia Southern and UCF. The bats are beginning to heat up as Troy is averaging 12.3 hits/game over its last seven games and have logged double digit hits in five of their last six contests.
Logan Cerny, who has won Sun Belt Player of the Week honors in two-straight weeks and three times this season, leads the way with a .368 average and 30 RBIs on the year. Since sliding into the two-hole in the lineup six games ago, the center fielder has logged a .545 average, two doubles, a triple, five home runs, 11 RBIs, 12 runs and a 1.409 slugging percentage.
Troy will have a shakeup to its starting pitching rotation with typical Sunday starter Bay Witcher earning the start on the bump in Thursday's series-opener. DJ Wilkinson, who has looked strong in a long relief role his last two outings, will get the start Friday while Garrett Gainous will remain on Saturday for the series finale against the Jags.
Rigsby Mosley is coming off a strong week in which he hit .500 with three doubles across four games. The left fielder logged a multi-hit performance in all three games against UCF. Second baseman Donovan Whibbs is coming off the best game of his career in Sunday's series finale against the Knights. Whibbs notched a career-high in hits with a 3-for-4 day at the plate.
