Troy is riding a three-game winning streak entering a pivotal non-conference showdown against the Knights. After a two-weekend slump, the Trojan bats have finally awoken and are averaging 11.0 hits/game over the last seven games.
The Trojans have shown the power in their lineup as of late with eight of Troy's 24 homers on the year coming in the last two games.
Logan Cerny has been on a tear recently, ranking second nationally with nine home runs on the year and has homered in consecutive at-bats in two-straight games. Cerny was named the Sun Belt Player of the Week for the second time this season after going 7-for-11 (.636) with a double, triple and two home runs in a series win over Georgia Southern last weekend.
Drew Frederic has been Troy's most consistent bat so far this season. The senior has reached base in every game this season and is riding career-best reached base (29 games) and hit (13 games) streaks.
Jesse Hall has been a spark in the Trojan lineup since taking over at third base, making several key defensive plays and impressing offensively. The junior is hitting .421 on the year and blasted his first-career homer last time out against Alabama State, a two-out grand slam.
On the mound, the trio of Orlando Ortiz, Garrett Gainous and Bay Witcher have gotten the job done on the weekends for the Trojans. Troy is one of two schools in the Sun Belt to have two pitchers rank inside the top 10 in the league in strikeouts (Gainous, 30 / Ortiz, 29). Sunday starter Bay Witcher's 3.54 ERA is the ninth-best in the conference.
