Eleven Trojans recorded a hit in the game, six of whom tallied multi-hit nights. It was business as usual for Logan Cerny as he homered in consecutive at-bats for the second-straight game, bringing his season home run total to nine. Jesse Hall continued his hot-hitting ways with a 3-for-5 night, including hit his first-career longball, a grand slam in the first inning.
Dalton Sinquefield finished 2-for-2 with a two-run home runs while Rigsby Mosley tallied an RBI-double in a 1-for-3 outing. Drew Frederic extended his hit streak to 13 games and his reached base streak to 29 games, both career bests.
Caleb Bartolero recorded a two-hit game, including a triple off the top of the left field wall. Nic Nolan reentered the lineup at second base and posted his seventh multi-hit game of the season with a 2-for-5 showing at the plate. Seth Johnson appeared in his sixth game of the season and posted his second multi-hit game.
Hudson Hartsfield and Brady Sherrill each registered their first-career hits in the contest.
It was a group effort on the mound for both sides as Troy used seven pitchers while Alabama State trotted out eight. In the start for the Trojans, Kyle Gamble (1-2) tossed two strong innings in which he allowed no earned runs and struck out five batters to earn the win. Matt Snell, Max Newton, Lance Johnson, Ryan Pettys, Marquez Oates and Mason Kenney combined to finish the final seven innings, striking out six and allowing just four hits in the process.
Osvaldo Mendez (0-2) was tagged with the loss after allowing five runs on four hits in an inning of work.
Quotable – Head Coach Mark Smartt
"It was a really good midweek win for our guys. We did some good things early in the game with the bat, Logan jump started us with a home run and then Jesse Hall hit a big two-out grand slam. We got some guys in the game that don't get to play an awful lot and they did a great job. Hudson and Brady each got their first career-hits tonight which is a big deal. It was a great opportunity for our team and we built on the momentum we created Saturday and Sunday against Georgia Southern."
